Bullying, We need to stop this hate.

 I recently came along this video that made me realize how much words hurt people. Not even just people, kids, children that are 9 years old or even less. This little boy was scared to go back to school because he was bullied! He only had one friend in school and the rest went to other schools. He was alone, and no one could help him. He was even scared to tell his parents. He didn't really know how to. So he decided to make this video. The next day his parents found out and helped him. However, that doesn't change the past. All  of the amounts that he cut himself, was too scared to go to school because he didn't know what the bullies would do to him next, sad that he has to live another day,etc. Thank god that he got help. Sadly I know a few people that didn't.  They killed themselves because of bulling.Their parents, family and friends lost someone that they cared so much for just like that. These bullies take lives of innocent children away, for no reason at all. Just to make themselves feel better about themselves. In my high school 3 kids have died only 4 months into school. This is crazy! We need to do something about this. We need to let kids know there is help for them, there is another way out. They should take their lives because of this.

Lady Gaga has started an  anti-bullying campaign. She did this after a 14 year old boy had killed himself because he was bullied. She promotes people to be themselves and not care about what other people say. She says that bullying is a crime, its a hate crime, there is no point of it. All it does is make people sad and feel like they are worthless, and that's not true at all!
She has now taken matters into her own hands. She recently went to the white house to talk to them about anti-bullying. Its time to put a stop to this and she is taking all the right actions to do so. I agree with her 100%. We need to stop losing young kids to bully's. Don't forget there is anyways a way out!

Really?!

These reality stars get money for not doing anything. It’s interesting how we have to work to get our money but for them they just have fun and it comes to them. One main example of this is shown in Jersey Shore. If you watch the show you know that all they do is party every night drink and go out. Most  of us watch this show or shows like this one. Do you ever stop to think how much they make an episode?  They have a job selling shirts, but they don’t really do anything there.

As you all may know Jersey Shore has had 4 seasons so far and they are still going strong. The last season the whole cast went to Italy. There they got to see where they came from and how Italy really is. I mean who wouldn’t want to go visit the place of where their family is from. They got to experience this moment while we all sat at home and watched them on a television screen. The part that I am the most jealous about is that they get paid for all this, for enjoying their lives.

For the first season each cast member received $5,000 per episode. This was because this show was new and no one really knew how it would turn out. After Snookie got punched in the face in season one the amount of viewers that turned in to watch Jersey Shore went up. Because of this for the second season the cast got $10,000 per episode each.  For season three it was said that Jersey Shore was one of the highest-rated network shows. Each cast member received $30,000 an episode. Some of the cast members are paid more than the others. It all depends on how well they do, it’s like a popularity contest. From this show many new words came about. I know many of us have friends that say “Yeah Buddy. DTF, GTL, Now that’s a Situation” and so much more. These are the things that  make us keep watching it. All the drama, fights, break ups and hook ups leave us wanting more.  This is why many people are still watching it. Also a lot of people talk about is, so to be updated you kinda have to watch it. Many girls now do the poof like Snookie did in the first season.  There are even shirts and hats that are being sold because of this show. Some have even made perfumes and wrote books.
  The Jersey Shore cast is getting money from all angles.They are the ones that are really living the life, and getting paid for it.  I wish I had that, I want money for just having fun, going out with my friends and even embarrassing themselves at times. I mean wouldn’t you do this to get paid as much as they are? But we cant, we have to work hard for our money. We have to go to school and then have a career. These reality shows have us sitting and watching other live their lives instead of going out and living our own. Yeah, we might laugh here and there at the things that they do. One week ago Snookies new perfume came out in Queens center mall. A lot of people went there just to see her or take a picture with her. My friend was one of the people that went. She said that if you wanted to get anywhere close to her you would have to buy her perfume which is about $60. Since my friend loves the show Jersey Shore she decided to buy the perfume just to meet her and talk to her. There was even a photographer there that took their picture and sent it to her later on during the week.
This just shows the various things that people would do just to meet a cast member of the Jersey Shore. Have they really gotten that famous? I mean what have they done in their lives other than party and humiliate themselves on TV? 

 

No Iphone 5?

    Steve Jobs the co-founder and former CEO of apple died on October 5th, 2011 at the age of 56. His death has affected us all. Everyone that has or had an apple product will always remember him. The first time I heard about his death was on Facebook. Everybody’s status was “RIP Steve Jobs”.  He had been battling with pancreatic cancer for years now. He had a liver transplant but sadly it didn’t work out.

           My friend and I were having a conversation and Steve Jobs death came up. He said that many people didn’t know who he was before that day. I thought about it and it’s true. Many people don’t know who exactly created the things they use on an everyday basis. It takes something major to happen so we could all know. Even on Facebook some people were asking who Steve Jobs was because they didn’t know. Sadly his death made him more known around the world. Everyone all over the world uses the products that he has created.  New York Times columnist Joe Nocera even said that, "Steve Jobs is one of the great innovators in the history of modern capitalism. His intuition has been phenomenal over the years."

            There were rumors going around before that the new iphone is going to come out. But now what will happen? A lot has left along with Steve Jobs, all the new apple products. He will always be remembered, through all the products that he has created for us. Every time we use it we will now know who made it and thank him.

Abortion!

Abortion is a very controversial topic. Everyone has their own opinions about this topic. I chose to write about this because recently on Facebook I read something that caught my attention. 

“Hi, Mommy.

...I'm your baby. You don't know me yet, I'm only a few weeks old. You're going to find out about me soon, though, I promise. Let me tell you some things about me. My name is John, and I've got beautiful brown eyes and black hair. Well, I don't have it yet, but I will when I'm born. I'm going to be your only child, and you'll call me your one and only. I'm going to grow up without a daddy mostly, but we have each other. We'll help each other, and love each other. I want to be a doctor when I grow up.

You found out about me today, Mommy! You were so excited, you couldn't wait to tell everyone. All you could do all day was smile, and life was perfect. You have a beautiful smile, Mommy. It will be the first face I will see in my life, and it will be the best thing I see in my life. I know it already.

Today was the day you told Daddy. You were so excited to tell him about me! ...He wasn't happy, Mommy. He kind of got angry. I don't think that you noticed, but he did. He started to talk about something called wedlock, and money, and bills, and stuff I don't think I understand yet. You were still happy, though, so it was okay. Then he did something scary, Mommy. He hit you. I could feel you fall backward, and your hands flying up to protect me. I was okay... but I was very sad for you. You were crying then, Mommy. That's a sound I don't like. It doesn't make me feel good. It made me cry, too. He said sorry after, and he hugged you again. You forgave him, Mommy, but I'm not sure if I do. It wasn't right. You say he loves you... why would he hurt you? I don't like it, Mommy.

Finally, you can see me! Your stomach is a little bit bigger, and you're so proud of me! You went out with your mommy to buy new clothes, and you were so so so happy. You sing to me, too. You have the most beautiful voice in the whole wide world. When you sing is when I'm happiest. And you talk to me, and I feel safe. So safe. You just wait and see, Mommy. When I am born I will be perfect just for you. I will make you proud, and I will love you with all of my heart.

I can move my hands and feet now, Mommy. I do it because you put your hands on your belly to feel me, and I giggle. You giggle, too. I love you, Mommy.

Daddy came to see you today, Mommy. I got really scared. He was acting funny and he wasn't talking right. He said he didn't want you. I don't know why, but that's what he said. And he hit you again. I got angry, Mommy. When I grow up I promise I won't let you get hurt! I promise to protect you. Daddy is bad. I don't care if you think that he is a good person, I think he's bad. But he hit you, and he said he didn't want us. He doesn't like me. Why doesn't he like me, Mommy?

You didn't talk to me tonight, Mommy. Is everything okay?

It's been three days since you saw Daddy. You haven't talked to me or touched me or anything since that. Don't you still love me, Mommy? I still love you. I think you feel sad. The only time I feel you is when you sleep. You sleep funny, kind of curled up on your side. And you hug me with your arms, and I feel safe and warm again. Why don't you do that when you're awake, anymore?

I'm 21 weeks old today, Mommy. Aren't you proud of me? We're going somewhere today, and it's somewhere new. I'm excited. It looks like a hospital, too. I want to be a doctor when I grow up, Mommy. Did I tell you that? I hope you're as excited as I am. I can't wait.

...Mommy, I'm getting scared. Your heart is still beating, but I don't know what you are thinking. The doctor is talking to you. I think something's going to happen soon. I'm really, really, really scared, Mommy. Please tell me you love me. Then I will feel safe again. I love you!

Mommy, what are they doing to me!? It hurts! Please make them stop! It feels bad! Please, Mommy, please please help me! Make them stop!

Don't worry Mommy, I'm safe. I'm in heaven with the angels now. They told me what you did, and they said it's called an abortion.

Why, Mommy? Why did you do it? Don't you love me anymore? Why did you get rid of me? I'm really, really, really sorry if I did something wrong, Mommy. I love you, Mommy! I love you with all of my heart. Why don't you love me? What did I do to deserve what they did to me? I want to live, Mommy! Please! It really, really hurts to see you not care about me, and not talk to me. Didn't I love you enough? Please say you'll keep me, Mommy! I want to live smile and watch the clouds and see your face and grow up and be a doctor. I don't want to be here, I want you to love me again! I'm really really really sorry if I did something wrong. Every abortion is just…

One more heart that was stopped.

Two more eyes that will never see.

Two more hands that will never touch.

Two more legs that will never run.

One more mouth that will never speak.”

When I first started reading it I thought that it was something good. Explaining how I baby experiences stuff when he/she is in the womb. However, I soon learned that this was nothing good at all. I started to feel tears coming down my cheeks. The mother’s thoughts about the baby changed so fast. I understand her reason for doing it. She didn’t want to raise him alone, especially since the father didn’t want him. The father even beat her when he was drunk.

            I believe that it is the mother’s choice. We don’t want babies coming into this world with parents that aren’t ready for them. One example is the show Teen Mom. The people in the show were not ready to have children yet. But they did and look where they are now! I believe that it is better to have a steady home for the child to be raised in. We don’t want children to be neglected or even worse. Children should be loved like the baby in the story was in the beginning. The love of the parent shouldn’t change.

            In New York City the law it is said that the fetus has to be a few weeks old to have an abortion. You cannot have an abortion after the fetus is grown. Even though some people say that it is wrong to do this, in their own way they are right. The parents that conceived the fetus should have been more careful. If they knew that they didn’t want a child they should have been protected. They could have used a condom or birth control.

            There is a third option. You can give birth and give up the child for abortion. Sadly many people cannot conceive a child. This will help lots of people. They will be able to nurture your child. They will be in a loving and well balanced home. Before doing something you might regret think. You are not only making the decision for yourself but for your child as well.

Gossiping!

  Everyone in their life time has gossiped. We all do it even if we don’t want to.  I mean how could we not if it’s all around us? It is shown in our television sets, magazines, and internet, everywhere.  Not only celebrities go through this but we regular people do as well. Sometimes the gossip that goes around isn’t even true about the person. Lady Gaga once said,” Every time I read about myself in a magazine or wherever I usually learn something new about myself I never knew before. It’s funny.”  The sad part is that we don’t even know what we are reading is true or made up. How would we if we don’t personality know the celebrity, all we do is read about them.

       

                               

   For us it’s pretty much the same thing. Usually when we are having a conversation with someone, someone else’s name comes up. Word of mouth is the fastest way news spreads. Isn’t that interesting? Someone said that, “Gossip is like the blood that runs through woman’s veins”. Is this true, do women gossip more than men? I believe so, I mean think about it do men gossip on a daily basis? Nope they don’t, they usually talk about sports or something else.

       Gossip hurts a lot of people as well, it even ruins their careers.  For example Lindsey Lohan, her career was ruined because of all the gossip that was going on. She couldn’t deal with it anymore so she went partying to get away from all her problems. When she did you would see it in every magazine. It was like every step she took and everything she did everyone somehow ended up finding out about it. This left her with no privacy. Can you imagine living with the whole world knowing every step you took, it’s crazy!    

 Many of us have suffered because of gossiping.  Something about you that you didn’t want people to know spared around school, work or wherever. This might even ruin your reputation. Sometimes information is misunderstood. There is a game that most of us played when we were younger, called telephone. One person would say anything they want to the person next to them. Then everyone in the circle told the person sitting next to them what the other said.  They have o whisper it to each other so no one can hear it. Most of the time the word or sentence you started with was not the same that you ended with. This shows that along the way the truth changes. The only thing we can do is not believe everything we hear, and also not spread it. If we do it can ruin people’s lives and it’s just not right.

Vampires and Werewolves Oh My.

It’s the 20^th century and most of the movies and shows out there are about vampires and werewolves. They all have the same concepts. There is either a new vampire or werewolf that is trying to get use to their new life. They learn how to be what it is they are, or a vampire going on a killing spree, sometimes there is even a vampire falling in love with a human. I believe that this vampire crave all began when Twilight came out. The movie producers saw that it was a big hit. Twilight has made $367,160,734. If you have never seen the movie Twilight it is about how a vampire family has moved into town. They are all extremely beautiful. There is a human girl that falls in love with one of the vampires. It is like a forbidden love. Over time he can’t help but be with her. There is a werewolf that is also in love with the same girl. They always fight for her love. This movie attracted millions of viewers. I believe it is because they made this movie based on the book . I read the books and they were great so much better than the movies. Also many of the viewers were attracted to the actors that were in the movie itself. They even formed teams, the werewolf team Jacob and the vampire team Edward. There were shirts made from this as well, the teams and the movie in general.

After Twilight various new vampire and werewolf movies and shows came out. Some examples of these are, True Blood, Vampire Dairies, Fright Night, Teen Wolf, Blood Ties, Moonlight, 30 Days of Night, The Wolf Man and various other ones. These are shows about vampires and werewolves. They revolve around the same topics. They just have different actors that play the part.

These creatures have something that is appealing about them, it lours you in. It seems as if they are so much better than actual humans, appearance wise. Their features are emphasized. They can do what ever they please. I mean who doesn't want to do something and get away with it? I think we all do. Its as if these creatures are living the life. They have their whole life time to do anything it is they want. For example, in Vampire Dairies  the vampires are extremely good looking they do this to get people to watch it. They have interesting story lines to get people to come back to watch the next episode. 

Whenever writers or directors see that one movie topic is selling well they all want to do it. So they can make money. Soon the topic gets played out. Yet still these are the shows and the movies that still get the most ratings from the people. I love Vampire Dairies, Twilight and Teen Wolf! Those are my favorite shows/ movie. But I see so many similarities between them. If you compare these shows I am sure you will see what I am talking about. Through our lifetimes so many things have been repeated, music, shows, movies, fashion and so much more. So how much of our lives is really new? Other then technology everything else is brought back from the past. Makes you think doesn’t it?

Russian Dolls

So Lifetime has a new show. Something like Jersey shore, it’s called Russian Dolls. It’s on every Thursday at 11:30. It airs for 30 minutes long and it is filled with excitement and true Russian flavor. There are various age groups in this show. There is a younger cast and an older cast. Personally I enjoy the younger cast because they have more drama between each other. Also I can relate to them more. They party, drink, shop and talk about their experiences. Diana one of the members of the younger cast had a Spanish boyfriend at the time. She was afraid to tell her parents about him because he wasn’t Russian so in the end she broke up with him for that reason.  The older members of the cast are all rich.  They all act as if they are too good for everyone else.

This show shows how the Russians mostly immigrated to Brighton Beach in Brooklyn. It shows their everyday activities and how from nothing they formed everything. They made Brighton the way it is today, a Russian neighborhood.
Many of the Russian viewers believe that this show does not represent them correctly. It lowers them I agree with this in some parts of the show. For example, one of the girls in the younger cast named Anastasia called her mom a “Bitch” and kept yelling at her. Her mom just sat there and tried to calm her down and called her baby. The next day her mother came to her house to apologize, because she didn't support her daughter in changing her major for the fourth time. I am Russian and I don’t know any parent that will just sit back and call their child baby when the child is calling the parent a bitch. That is just not the why they are. However, others believe that this show is great and they are happy that Russians have a television show.

According to the show “Russians” mostly immigrated to Brooklyn from Russia. They like to drink vodka and fight a lot. Russian guys do not like to talk about how much money they have. You never insult a guy about how much money he has or makes because that lowers his manhood. It shows that a lot of the older cast is rich. Many Russian people are not rich as them. They do not own restaurants or jewelry stores, as shown in the show. Marina the member of the older cast is very rude to her mother-in-law. I think the way she acts towards her is just not right, especially if she helped started the company you and your husband run. In our culture we respect our elders we do not act the way she does.

Russian Dolls shows that Russians usually like to stick together. They do not date outside of their nationality and do not marry them. This is similar to other groups because that is what many people believe in, especially if you are older. Russians are different from other groups because they have a different culture and they do things differently.

This show is making the public believe that just because these people act this way the rest of the Russian community does as well. Even if it’s not true.   Hey will judge all of us just because of this one group of people. Just like people think that most Italians are guidos and guidettes as shown in the Jersey Shore. Even though this is an issue it has not stopped people from watching it. It is interesting to see how these people live, act and talk. Every episode leaves you wanting more.
